But you’re the one place that I’d happily drown
I always meant this as a two-parter. The first part might have come across that I don’t like Japan. I can see how that can be seen, but it’s not true. Yeah, Japan has problems, but so does every country. Japan also has a bevy of things that are freaking awesome.
The fashion
Yes, there’s some really, really, really, bad fashion. Not awesomely bad. Just bad. Train-wreck bad. However, you notice that because it’s not something you see all the time (well… at least here and Tokyo). It is quite refreshing to see so many people nicely dressed; and not just girls or young people, but a large amount of the population in general.
So many people are dressed nice, that’s good and all, but, of course, I’m quite happy with women’s fashion. For those that have played Final Fantasy X (and X-2), you don’t need to use your imagination. Just look at some people in the game and you can see some of the fashion that I’ve seen (good example, Rikku). Short pants/skirts are common and high heels are basically a necessity if you’re a woman.
Short pants is double plus good
You don’t need a car.
You don’t. You can go basically anywhere in the country without a car and it’s quite easy. Most people have bikes and use them constantly. Women will carry their children with them on the bike (sometimes 2 at a time). I would love if the US decided to think ahead of tomorrow and make cities (and an entire culture) not surrounded by cars, but walking, biking, skating, running, etc. There’s a lot more to talk about in terms of this and I’ll talk more about it at a later time.
No fatties
Well not no, but very little. Take a look at the graph. Now find Japan. No… lower… lower. There it is at the bottom. Now where is the USA? #1 (we’re #1, we’re #1… wait, you mean this is a bad category to be #1 in?) Yep. It’s so much better when most people are around a normal weight. The people who say that the reason that they are fat is because of genetics are more likely (but not always) true than in the US. So refreshing.
Japan, it’s so small!
Although there are some things that I don’t like about Japan, there’s a lot more that I like. For anyone that hasn’t visited Japan yet… well… do it.

I find it depressing to read what you wrote about “no fatties” i mean c’mon, you’re not Japanese are you? Actually i saw quite alot of so called fatties when i was in Japan but in all, what does it really matter to you, why should it matter?
Obviously you have something against “fatties”. Does it mean they are stupid or have a lower intelligence, are they worth knowing any less?
You’d be surprised but the number of Japanese girls i have seen in Perth (australia) that are double the normal size of what they traditionally were is quite large.
Obviously not everyone can be perfect like you. The worst thing is to go to someone else’s country and judge them. That’s the worst, but you don’t seem to have a problem with it.
I think you’ve misread my statement completely. What I was basically saying is that the diet in Japan is much healthier than the diet in many “Western” countries. Diets, such as the usual diet in the States, that contain so many bad ingredients, as shown from the diagram (and my looking at the general populace) shows this.
I am in no way railing against fat people. What I did was use a common statement made by some frat boys and use it as a title. You saw the title and became quite angry. As a result, you misread my intentions and made that comment.
My style of writing is quite abnormal (like me!) and it’s hard to tell what opinion is mine and what I am just saying but not meaning. The print medium is one that makes it hard for others to get the true meaning since we might lack all of the information needed to realize true intentions. In my case, I can even be misread in person.
I did not come to Japan and judge people. All I said was that I was quite happy that people, on average, have a more normal weight. I never said it was genetic. It’s much more cultural than genetic (which is part of the problem in countries like where I’m from). I would am not surprised that there are larger japanese girls (and guys) and in no way do I think that they are stupid; I’m not even sure where you got that.
I have nothing against someone who is an endomorph. I do, however, get slightly annoyed at people who eat way too much than they should and then use a scapegoat to say that they’re absolved of all fault. Maybe it’s part of a bigger problem of some people not wanting responsibility (or something like that), or maybe not. I don’t know. But I would like you to read this and see that I did not mean what you think I meant.
heh. sorry. when i reread i realised i’d read something totally different. Gomen ne! yurushite kureru?
