Another difference seems to be that Japanese quiz shows (and variety shows, if I’m not mistaken) use color schemes that you’d only see on children’s programming over here. It’s like Double Dare, except everything is neon.

I don’t know if you can automatically conclude truth-telling. Based on extensive anime viewing, I’ve gathered that there is an epidemic over there of men who are physically alergic to all females (especially ones with large breasts).

I imagine it’s similar to the phenomenon that causes anyone who gets wet in a non-pool/ocean/bath related context to immediately develop a cold (complete with incapacitating fever).
